After many months of collaborative work, we have successfully secured practical safety improvements across many primary and secondary schools. These schools have also now implemented clearer statements on their websites and within their smartphone policies, explicitly confirming that pupils with medical conditions are entirely exempt from lockable mobile phone pouch rules. This has successfully normalised T1 technology and drastically reduced classroom stigma.
We are taking our message as far and wide as possible. We met directly with Liberal Democrat leader Ed Davey MP, who has been an outstanding advocate for SEN children. Ed took our urgent concerns straight to the Secretary of State for Education, Bridget Phillipson.
With ongoing advocacy, we have advanced key discussions and arranged upcoming meetings with a growing network of MPs to push this urgent issue forward in Parliament.
We are backing our campaign with hard facts. Our team has published academic articles and submitted formal research funding bids to provide undeniable evidence of how smartphone restrictions negatively impact medical health.
There is still so much to do but we will continue to fight for T1 families everywhere.
Managing Type 1 Diabetes is a team effort. While we do not provide medical advice, we are here to walk alongside you. We offer real emotional support and lived-experience tips to make managing T1D at home and school less stressful.
We also recognise the incredible work of charities and campaigners such as John Story with Lyla’s Law, Breakthrough T1D, Diabetes UK and DWRF. Their efforts, alongside visionary clinical leaders like Professor Partha Kar, are completely transforming the landscape of Type 1 diabetes care. Witnessing such phenomenal technology and medical progress fills us with hope for the future.
